Walk in Westeros at the “Game of Thrones” Ice Hotel

By Man of Many in Travel on February 3, 2018

Each year, Lapland Hotels utilizes 20 million kilos of snow and 350,000 kilos of crystal clear natural ice to construct an awe-inspiring and breathtaking SnowVillage that changes shape, size, and form, each winter season.

SnowVillage is a 20,000 sq meter property that houses a hotel, ice restaurant, bar, and chapel. This year, the hotel is Game of Thrones themed and the rooms have been designed by sculptors from Poland, Latvia, Russia, and the Ukraine.

This display does not skimp on any details, walking through the ice corridors you will find a full-sized iron throne, noble and scary Braavosi faces, huge White Walker replicas with glowing blue eyes, and much more. Adding to the spectacle, you can even get married in the ice chapel which is made entirely of ice and snow and is adorned with numerous Game of Thrones references and pieces.

SnowVillage has been in existence for 18 years and has close to 30 rooms that change each year and small collection of snow and ice rooms that remain constant. For wedding couples, SnowVillage offers the chance for an amazing experience with many “all snow” or more traditional options. Whatever your reason for traveling to Lapland Hotels SnowVillage, your stay is sure to be unforgettable.
